BSP Sports Hall Athletics Competition- Friday 27th January, 2017

Once again we took part in the BSP Sports hall Athletics Competition with eight Year 5 and eight Year 6 pupils taking part. The competition is divided into two sections field and track which included such activities as Chest Push, Long Jump, Javelin, Obstacle Race and Hurdles, finishing with several relay races. The pupils fully entered into the spirit of the competition with especial mentions to Iris for one of the longest Standing Long Jumps and Austin for some very fast relays. Although we weren’t placed in the top three schools, everyone performed to a very high standard and were great ambassadors for St Michaels. A fun, energetic afternoon was had by all the pupils as the photos below show.

Sports Clubs at St Michaels

Did you know we run 8 different sports clubs at St Michaels? They include Karate, Body Balance, Gymnastics, Taekwondo, Golf, Football, Hip Hop and Cheerleading.

There is such a range of activities that it means there is something hopefully that will appeal to most children. Your child doesn’t necessarily have to love sport or think they are good at it to join most of the clubs. So take a look at the list and some of the pictures attached to this blog. If your child would like to have a taster session that can be possible or if they would like to sign up for any of the clubs please check with the School Office to find out about costs and  availability of spaces?

New Sports Equipment from Active Kids

PE equipWe have been very lucky to receive a fantastic box of sports equipment from the Sainsbury’s Active Kids project. We have been regular participants in this scheme since it was set up in 2008 and over the years thanks to the help from parents, children and friends of the school collecting the vouchers we have greatly improved our sports equipment and kits. This recent donation  has come just at the right time as much of our playground equipment was in need of replacing and updating. So the children will greatly benefit from this exciting selection of equipment especially at this time of year when we are very much limited to the playgrounds.

The scheme will be running again this Spring so please look out for the vouchers and bring them into school so we can make use of this fantastic free resource.
